Well I am on the road with Schluep and we are on our way to Chicago for this year's Wizard World!!
We are now about 20 miles from the halfway point in our great journey: Indianapolis Indiana!!
I will be chronicling this entire trip with my great camera/camcorder! I am excited to let everyone
know all the great things that will be at WW '07; from the huge comic announcements, movie news,
and of course all the great comics and toys, erhmm I mean collectibfles!

We at COHMCG are very glad that we can bring everyone the news "liveish" from Chi-Town!
Unfortunately only 2 staff people could attend this great event, myself; Travis, and Josh Schluep.
It's okay though two is enough to bring you some great updates! Luckily I charged my laptop before
we left so I can type while on the road!! Well here it is!

1:31PM EST------------

Driving through the great state of Indiana right now, we are about to come up on Indianapolis.
We have had the great privledge to be caught in a very long line of traffic! Thank you construction!
I have just been taking pictures of us in the car, just anything to pass the time quickly. It isn't good that
I cannot really bring you guys any awesome news, but nay don't be dismayed you have but a day until
you can read and SEE!! Yes see what we will see! I'll, like all great members of the press, will have my
camcorder in my hand probably 24/7!!

Thank the Lord that there are MP3 players, portable DVD players, and of course laptops!!! I drove the first 2 hours now its Josh's turn so I am doing everything I can to keep busy! So here let me show you some stuff!!

3:55PM *NOT EST*

Well we are finally here in Chi Town, after our devil possessed
GPS took us through the entire city, we are finally on our correct
path through the Windy City! About 9 more minutes and we will
reach our destination. The beautiful condos of Belmont! Where
we will park and cab downtown to check out the AMC theater!
Taking pictures with my camera like a crazy person. I want some
stuff to show you rather then just my ugly face! Well be back soon
more to show you hopefully!!

10:00PM *NOT EST*

Well our first night at Wizard World Chicago is now done, Schluep

All that I can say without ruining anything for you is, just wow, it's amazing
the level of game play that they offered for the Wizard World demo area.

world war hulk

Hulk come, Hulk see, Hulk smash!
Alas the Time has finally come for us, the COHMCG staff, to finally release what has been bottled up inside us ever since that fateful day when four us Earth’s heroes decided to save humanity. Of course if you have been keeping yourself up today you can appreciate the tragic irony! This review is meant mainly for those who have been current readers with the Hulk storyline if you havent you are still welcome to read further! But Spoilers lie ahead!! For those who have been following Greg Pak’s modern masterpiece then you are one of thousands of readers that have been blessed by yet another astonishing writer. Of course Pak doesn’t take all the glory for himself, he is quoted getting inspiration from other writers such as Joe Quesada.
From the time the Hulk set foot on the planet of Sakaar the readers here at COHMCG have been enthralled by this cosmic story. The time has finally come the Hulk is on Earth, and he is pissed. After losing his wife and child on the way, he takes his vengence on the very ones who destroyed all that he had come to love. Just to further describe the hurricane that is the Hulk here is a quote from Greg Pak himself, taken from Marvel Spotlight :World War Hulk; Printed July 2007
“The Hulk is a powerhouse of anger and destruction. In terms of sheer visceral, genre spectacle, the amount of fun you can have with that kind of character is unlimited.”
-Writer Greg Pak
You can see the writer himself enjoys working with Hulk's infinite power it seems. Joining the Hulk are his warbound: Korg (whom appeared in early Thor issues), Miek (An underdog in the beginning now a King of his peopole), Heroim (A mysterious Shadow Warrior), Elloe (One of the last survivors of the dominating race on Sakaar), The Brood (You longtime marvel readers will know this race from X-Men), and Arch-E-5912 (Hulk’s personal pilot). This warbound have been described by your favorite heroes as being the strength of the Hulk before he was sent into space.
So as you can see the Hulk is here, he is angry and he brought some backup. I just simply love this story, I was an avid Planet Hulk reader. The fact that you can see so much symetry with the story and that of Spartacus or Gladiator, Pak has learned to take stories loved by many and turn it into a tale of Anger and the Color green. I love the façade of characters that have been thrown in, not only do you get the warbound but Pak throws in Blackbolt, Iron Man, Doctor Strange, and Richard Reed. Alongside these are your well known; X-Men, The Avengers, Spiderman, and many others.
I am so excited to see what Pak brings to us these next couple of months. So far his story telling is vivid, imaginative, and-o-so creative. The art in these books is just breath taking, also are the covers. It’s about time after all these years, the Hulk gets his. I think that I am not alone when I say this but, Hulk for President!
I tried to just give you a brief rundown of the story thus far, because as a devoted Pak fan, I really didn’t want to spoil any of the story for anyone. If you havent read any of it, the Hardcover graphic novel for Planet Hulk is out, go get it and then get all the World War Hulks at your local comicery!

transformers review!!

Here it is! The long awaited Transformers Review!! 23 Years ago Hasbro brought us the phenomena that is the Transformers franchise. This new sleek and quite sexy version is primarily based on the Generation One (G1) of the Transformers; which ran from 1984-1992. Of course are heroes have quite some upgraded armor. Optimus Prime is a brand new Peterbilt style Semi, and the fan favorite Bumblebee is now a camero.

I would have to say while I was waiting to see this film on the 2nd i was very nervous. Scared that it wasn't going to be able to contend with the huge expectation that I had already set in my mind. I remember waiting in line ready to go in, sweat trickling down my forehead and palms cold, okay maybe that is just an exaggeration but still I was nervous.

Then come the opening credits, hearing Peter Cullens voice was like feeling a winter breeze on a day where its like 130 degrees outside. It took my breath away. I was born in the late 80's so I didnt quite get into the Transformers franchise till the mid 90's. But of course thank the Lord for VHS'. Seeing Optimus and the gang of autobots fighting Megatron and his rag tag was very nostalgiac. I remember being on the edge of my seat waiting for the first transformation, the audience exploded in applause. A voice also attributed was Hugo Weaving as the voice of the Malicious Megaton

The CGI was quite facinating yes, but it shouldn't get all the credit. I think the actors were amazing, Shia LaBeouf delivered, as usual, his comic talents but also he was very serious. I am sure for all the actors that acting alongside a voice and no visual robot was very difficult, but my applause goes out to the entire cast on their amazing performance. The cast roll deliveries some great talent such as , John Voight, Megan Fox, Tyrese Gibson, Shia LaBeouf, Josh Duhamel and many more!

Michael Bay once again delivers a fast paced, action packed, special effect full, cinema giant. You may know more of his movies such as, Bad Boys I and II, The Rock, and Armageddon. I recommend this to anyone; Transformers fans and non transformers fans alike!

Tonight we dine in hades!

Leonidas I

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Leonidas)
Jump to: navigation, search

For other uses, see Leonidas (disambiguation).
Leonidas (Greek: Λεωνίδας - "Lion's son", "Lion-like") was a king of Sparta, the 17th of the Agiad line, one of the sons of King Anaxandridas II of Sparta and a descendant of Heracles. He succeeded his half-brother Cleomenes I, probably in 489 or 488 BC, and was married to Cleomenes' daughter, Gorgo. His name was raised to a heroic and legendary status as a result of the events in the Battle of Thermopylae.

In 480 the ephors sent Leonidas with the 300 men of an all-sire unit (soldiers who had sons to carry on their bloodline) and 6700 allies to hold the pass of Thermopylae against the hundreds of thousands of Persian soldiers who had invaded from the north of Greece under Xerxes. According to contemporary accounts Leonidas took only a small force comprised by his personal fighting unit, because Sparta's religious customs did not allow to send out an army at this time of the year. In addition, he was deliberately going to his doom: an oracle had foretold that Sparta could be saved only by the death of one of its kings, one of the lineage of Hercules. Instead it seems likely that the ephors supported the plan half-heartedly due to the festival of Carneia and their policy of concentrating the Greek forces at the Isthmus of Corinth.

Several anecdotes demonstrate the laconic matter-of-fact bravery that Leonidas and the Spartans were famed for even in the ancient world. On the first day of the siege, when Xerxes demanded the Greeks surrender their arms, Leonidas is said to have replied Μολών Λαβέ ("Come and get them"). And on the third day, the king is reputed to have exhorted his men to eat a hearty breakfast, because that night they would dine in Hades.

Leonidas' men repulsed the frontal attacks of the Persians for the first two days, but when the Malian Ephialtes led the Persian general Hydarnes by a mountain track to the rear of the Greeks, Leonidas divided his army. The King himself remained in the pass with his 300 Spartans and 400 Thebans, along with 700 Thespians who refused to leave. Leonidas' intent was to delay the Persians, sacrificing himself and his men.

The little Greek force, attacked from both sides, was cut down to a man except for the Thebans, who surrendered. Another theory is that Leonidas sent the remainder of the army home in an effort to preserve troops for the main battles of the war. The soldiers who stayed behind were to cover their escape so the Persian cavalry would not overrun the rear of the escaping troops.
Leonidas fell in the thickest of the fight, but the Spartans managed to retrieve his body and protect it until their final fall to enemy arrows. Herodotus says that Leonidas' head was cut off by Xerxes' order and his body crucified, due to his alleged hatred towards the Spartan King.

This was considered sacrilege towards Leonidas, and unusual action on Xerxes' part[citation needed]. Immediately after he ordered the desecration of Leonidas' body; however, Xerxes felt remorse and, forty years later, Leonidas' corpse was returned to the Spartans[citation needed].
He was buried with full honours, including a very un-Spartan display of wailing and mourning (Spartans normally accepted death in battle as a matter of course and disapproved of outward grieving, but the oracle at Delphi had ordered this along with the sacrifice of a Spartan king to preserve Sparta).

A carved lion monument bearing the inscription below was dedicated at his death site commemorating the sacrifice of him and his men:

Go, tell the Spartans, stranger passing by,
That here, obedient to their laws, we lie.
— ( Greek: Ώ ξειν', ἀγγέλειν Λακεδαιμονίοις ότι τήδε κείμεθα, τοις κοίνων ρήμασι πειθόμενοι) epitaph at Thermopylae (Simonides's epigram)

Our knowledge of the circumstances are too slight to enable us to judge Leonidas' strategy, but his heroism and devotion secured him an almost unique place in the imagination not only of his own time but also of succeeding times.

On a side note, two of the Spartans who were present at Thermopylae survived the conflict on the third day. One, Aristodemus, suffered an eye injury and was sent behind the lines and was taken back to Sparta with the retreating allies by order of the King. His companion, Eurytus, turned back despite having a similar infection which rendered him blind and died in the battle. Aristodemus redeemed himself through fighting with suicidal recklessness at the Battle of Plataea in 479 B.C., and returned home with his honor restored thereafter. A second Spartan, Pantites, was sent by Leonidas to attempt to raise support in Thessaly but returned to Thermopylae only after the battle's conclusion. Pantites hanged himself in disgrace after being shunned as a "trembler".

My take on some of the heroes characters!

My take on some of the Heroes Characters

MOHINDER SURESH :
I believe that this character shows slight resemblence to a Moira McTaggert/Charles Xavier character, other then the psychic powers of course. So far he has wanted to find all these people and to help them. His entire story has been about finding these people with the special abilities, he has seemed to have all the answers. I see him banding the group of Good guys together and helping them become more of a team.

NATHAN PETRELLI :
This character gives me the Tony Stark vibe. Sometimes it appears that his intentions are to help is brother, but other times it just seems he is trying to protect his career as a politician. Of course the main draw to this conclusion is the look, he has the Richman/I am in charge look, and of course the money mixed with the flying just yells TONY STARK! He doesn’t always have the best of intentions at heart. The character is cloudy, very grey, you don’t know if he is going to use his powers for good/evil/personal gain/ etc.

MR.BENNET :
Ahh now here is a charcter that has been hard to understand from the get go! Is he good, is he bad? First starting with the abduction of many super powered humans. The love for his daughter, and not to mention there is a son thrown in there. This character seemed like Magneto. He still loves his family and wishes to protect them, but still believes that his goal, whatever it is he is doing is the right path.

PETER PETRELLI :
Rogue, Rogue, and a little more of Rogue. That’s pretty much this guy’s power. Except one different thing, we have now found out that he can use anyones powers he comes into contact with, even if they are not there anymore. Once absorbed he can use the power when ever he wants to. Brother of Nathan Petrelli, my Iron Man, I would love to see how this brother plot will grow.

NIKI SANDERS :
What more can be said other then….PHOENIX!!
She has all the characteristics, loving caring person as Niki Sanders, but then her wild side steps in. The side with all the power, the destructive love for power, passion, super/nearly endless strength.
Niki : Jean Grey *without the telepathy*
Jessica: Phonenix

SYLER :
The villian we love to hate. He enjoys going to other “mutants” and stealing bits of them if not all of them, taking their power. I remember someone in the Marvel universe that would do the same with them, steal some powers, not always for himself, but he would steal them. Mr. Sinister. Syler is psychotic, power hungry. I can just imagine him with a pale white face and a jewel on his forhead! The way he can pretend to be friendly with some and then change his “appearance”

CLAIRE BENNET :
I would think this one is very obvious, regeneration…um Wolverine? Obviously she isn’t a killing machine of course but the regeneration just screams Wolverine. Hmmm wonder if she has some spikes in those hands?

HIRO NAKAMURA :
This one was so hard for me to come to a conclusion with. I saw some kind of mix between, Cable/Bishop mixed with the swordsman. Kind of a hard character to classify down to one Marvel Hero. The Time Traveling and Teleporting flagged my attention, and who other then Bishop and Cable? Course the sword, I wonder if Hiro will don a purple suit?

Step one you say we need to talk
He walks you say sit down it's just a talk
He smiles politely back at you
You stare politely right on through
Some sort of window to your right
As he goes left and you stay right
Between the lines of fear and blame
And you begin to wonder why you came

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

Let him know that you know best
Cause after all you do know best
Try to slip past his defense
Without granting innocence
Lay down a list of what is wrong
The things you've told him all along
And pray to God he hears you
And pray to God he hears you

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

As he begins to raise his voice
You lower yours and grant him one last choice
Drive until you lose the road
Or break with the ones you've followed
He will do one of two things
He will admit to everything
Or he'll say he's just not the same
And you'll begin to wonder why you came

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

How to save a life
How to save a life

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

How to save a life

    Freaking Warner Brothers!!!

    Joss Whedon Off Wonder Woman!
    Source: Joss Whedon
    February 2, 2007
Joss Whedon has announced on his official Blog that he will no longer be writing and directing the Wonder Woman movie at Warner Bros. Pictures.:SATIN TIGHTS NO LONGER. Joss will not be fighting for our rights after all.You (hopefully) heard it here first: I'm no longer slated to make Wonder Woman. What? But how? My chest... so tight! Okay, stay calm and I'll explain as best I can. It's pretty complicated, so bear with me. I had a take on the film that, well, nobody liked. Hey, not that complicated.Let me stress first that everybody at the studio and Silver Pictures were cool and professional. We just saw different movies, and at the price range this kind of movie hangs in, that's never gonna work. Non-sympatico. It happens all the time. I don't think any of us expected it to this time, but it did. Everybody knows how long I was taking, what a struggle that script was, and though I felt good about what I was coming up with, it was never gonna be a simple slam-dunk. I like to think it rolled around the rim a little bit, but others may have differing views. The worst thing that can happen in this scenario is that the studio just keeps hammering out changes and the writer falls into a horrible limbo of development. These guys had the clarity and grace to skip that part. So I'm a free man.Well, sorta. There is that "Goners" movie I can finally finish polishing, and plenty of other things in the hopper I've wanted to pursue. I'm as relieved as I am disappointed, and both of those things lead to drink, so that's a plus. Truly, you may be hearing some interesting things brewing in the coming months. But all potential jets therein will be visible. But most importantly, I never have to answer THAT question again!!!! And you don't have to link to every rumor site! Finally and forever: I never had an actress picked out, or even a consistant front-runner. I didn't have time to waste on casting when I was so busy air-balling on the script. (No! Rim! There was rim!) That's the greatest relief of all. I can do interviews again! Thanks for your time. You are the people who make the world go 'round. Or, no, science does that. This announcement comes on the heels of yesterday's news that Warner Bros. has picked up a script from script from newcomers Matthew Jennison and Brent Strickland

    We will not forget!!

We will not forget what was done on September 11th. The countless many men and women who died, the many who helped serve that day, both hired and volunteered. And to our armed forces, who continue to keep us safe. America is behind you, continue to keep on.
    United we stand.
    We will NOT forget,

    gears of war baby!

Yea so me and Josh Schluep have begun our XBOX 360 craze!
We are in the process of beating the game in co-op mode through the hardcore difficulty, then to insane, and then modest! I would have to say gears of by far one of my favorite games to date. That gameplay is just mezmerizing. The cinematics alone would make the game worth playing if the gameplay sucked. I start the game and I feel like I am inside a movie, its just amazing, high impact action, great dialogue, sweet weaponry, amazing enemies. I am very excited to finally own this game!
